Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

These cookies are excellent as a small individual cookies or as a base for cookie pizzas.


Yield: 4 dozen

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup Cocoa powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips or Dark chocolate chips
1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt
  3. Beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla in large bowl until fluffy
  4. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well
  5. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts, if desired
  6. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet
  7. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or just until set
  8. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack
  9. Cool completely
