Decadent Hot Chocolate

Posted in /Cooking/Drinks on Friday, December 15, 2017

Chilly winter nights deserve a good cup of hot chocolate. This homemade mix is easy to make and extremely rich.

Ingredients

1 cup white sugar
2 Tablespoon cornstarch
3/4 cup semi- or bittersweet chocolate, roughly chopped
1 cup cocoa powder, any kind you like
1 cup nonfat dry milk powder (Optional)
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions

1. Combine all ingredients in a blender until powdery. Mixture keeps in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 months.

To use

1. Heat one cup of milk (coconut, almond or others would work here too) in a saucepan over medium heat until steamy.
2. Add 3 tablespoons hot cocoa mix.
3. Whisk over heat for another minute or two, until it begins to simmer and mix is completely dissolved.
4. Pour into mug, top with mini-marshmallows or a dollop of whipped cream and hide somewhere nobody will make you share give it to someone you love.
