I love a good guac, and I'm always shocked to hear people in the grocery store hovering over the avocados and mumbling that they don't know how to make guac. Here is a simple recipe that you can use as a starter, create your guac as you like it, have fun with it and play around with a few spices!
Ingredients
2 avocados
3-5 cloves of minced garlic
Handful minced red onion
1 tomato diced small
Juice of 1 lime
Cayenne pepper (depends how spicy you like it...Pinch - hefty sprinkle)
Kosher salt
Red pepper flakes
(depends how spicy you like it...Pinch - hefty sprinkle)
Directions
1. On a cutting board place avocado and slice around the pit through the skin. Then twist the two halves apart. Carefully tap your knife into the pit and twist it out of the flesh.
2. Scoop the flesh out of the skin and place in a bowl for mashing or use an electric mixer.
3. Add your minced garlic, lime juice and spices. You can always add more spice once everything is mixed together. Mix or mash the ingredients together.
4. Gently combine your tomato.
5. Adjust the seasoning to desired spice levels by adding more salt, cayenne and pepper flakes.
6. Enjoy with chips or with Sweet Potato Black Bean Soup
